Kinneret is more than just an apartment.
The subsidized dining program offered to all Kinneret residents helps to ensure that our residents do not have to choose between medicine and food. Kinneret offers a professionally staffed kitchen, which prepares and serves high quality, nutritious, kosher meals Monday – Friday at 5pm. The Kinneret Council on Aging subsidizes the cost of every meal by about $3. This translates into over $75,000 a year in subsidized help to our residents. The subsidy is raised through the generosity of the Central Florida community.
In addition, the Kinneret Council on Aging funds the Congregate Housing Services Program at Kinneret which helps transition our frailest of residents to independence after suffering a fall or illness. Kinneret is only one of 29 facilities in the US that receives a matching HUD grant for this vital program. This program can only exist when funds are matched at the local level.
As the residents of Kinneret aged in place, the Kinneret Council on Aging Board of Directors began to identify & provide programming for residents to enhance their quality of life. These programs include:
- An emergency pendant system
- On-site professional social service coordinators
- Daily transportation to allow independence
- An optional hot meal program that features a kosher dinner every Monday—Friday at 5pm. A Farmer’s Market and a light lunch menu is also offered 2x a week. The dining program is subsidized through the generosity of the Central Florida community
- An active resident’s association that coordinates group activities, entertainment and operates a Grocery Co-op and Boutique.
- Community outreach programs to foster relationships with the residents and the community.
- Funding for the Congregate Services Housing Program which enables the frailest of our residents to remain independent in their apartments longer.
- Wellness, cultural and spiritual activities
- Special events such as our annual Passover Seder, weekly Farmer’s Market, and Volunteer Recognition Tea
